COVID-19 Implications

To our valued clients,

The Chief Medical Officer of Ontario has issued a directive allowing the gradual return of Regulated Health Professionals which means that  you will have access to Uptown Waterloo Therapy’s services as we gradually reopen over the next couple weeks.

However, we are not out of the waters yet. COVID-19 remains a potential threat so changes must be made to the way we deliver our services in order to protect us all.

As you may know, it takes up to 14 days for COVID-19 symptoms to develop from the moment of infection. This means that you could be asymptomatic while spreading the virus to others. Fortunately, there are measures we can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19  [e.g., physical distancing, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and practicing proper hand hygiene]. Because manual therapy does not allow for physical distancing, we must take additional precautions.

This is what we are doing behind the scenes to protect your health:

  • Screening clients for COVID-19 symptoms at the time of booking and upon arrival at the clinic

  • Delaying treatment for those who have COVID-19 symptoms by 14 days or until they are symptom free

  • Staggering appointment times to prevent you from crossing paths with anyone other than your health care professional.

  • Wearing PPE, including face masks, using best practices and performing proper hand hygiene.

  • Using cleaning/ disinfectant and hand sanitizing products approved by Health Canada

  • Increasing the frequency and intensity of our cleaning regime by disinfecting all touched surfaces and equipment used between each client, and thoroughly cleaning/disinfecting the clinic twice per day .

  • Changing any fabrics (i.e. towels, pillow covers and linens) after use between appointments. These fabrics are laundered following appropriate guidelines for health and safety.

  • Continuously screening ourselves for symptoms and following the directive of Public Health Ontario if we come into direct contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case or become symptomatic. In this case, clients will be notified.

We ask that you do the following during this time:

  • As you make an appointment, please remember that Ontario is still in a state of emergency and that even though precautions are being made, we cannot eliminate risk of infection completely. Only book your appointment if you believe that the benefits of treatment will outweigh associated risks.

  • Upon booking your appointment, you will be contacted via email or phone to answer some screening questions for COVID-19. Please answer them before coming for your appointment.

  • Please be HONEST when answering screening questions. If you have travelled outside of Ontario, self-isolate for 14 days. If you are sick or have symptoms associated with COVID-19, stay home. If you were exposed to a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case, stay home.

  • On the day of your appointment:

    • Please try to come alone. If you require a guardian or person of assistance, please know that they will be screened upon arrival and asked to give their name and phone number. We need to keep a roster of all people entering the clinic for contact tracing purposes.

    • Please arrive on time but no more than 5 minutes early. If you are early, please wait outside and call to let your therapist know that you have arrived.

    • Please come into the clinic wearing a clean mask (reusable or disposable). Masks will be provided if you do not have one.

    • Answer COVID-19 screening questions upon arrival to the clinic.

    • Sanitize/wash your hands upon arrival to and before you leave the clinic.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding the above. We will get back to you ASAP. Otherwise, thank you in advance for your patience and accommodation as we ease our way back into serving you. We are extremely grateful that we are allowed to get back to helping our clients, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

In health,

The Uptown Waterloo Therapy Team
